There is great enrichment in this place and surrounding country if you are able to open yourself and seek a way of gratitude as you pass through. The trails and walk out through Avon Valley National Park was spectacular at the end of August 2019. As to were the evening sunsets, the pre-dawn log fire and early morning sunrise over the valley.

I received a transformative life experience whilst staying at Peace Be Still and the Hostess and the property were part of the “stage setting”. I stayed here two nights whilst walking the Pilgrim’s Trail as a pilgrim on the Camino Salvado. This is a supported pilgrims walk from Subiaco to New Norcia in the way of the wandering Monk, Don Salvado. I was greeted in the manner and spirit of pilgrimage and was graciously and thoughtfully assisted and provided for by the Host of Peace Be Still.

The combination of mindfully walking and experiencing country through the walking trail, receiving hospitality, support and provision from our Hostess and visiting and engaging in the special features on the farm, like the the spiritual walks (labyrinth, there is also a stations of the cross spread thoroughly out the landscape), the sunrise and settings, private little chapel and watching the live stock and the wandering free emu raising her chicks. These all featured in that which lead to an incredible experience and transformation in my life in that place that I carried out with me.

I found it so refreshing to be back on a working property. I really enjoyed and was grateful for all that was offered; being seasonal provisions that came from Peace Be Still’s land and paddocks. I found the meals very filling and deeply satisfying and it fuelled me through my days of walking. It was especially wonderful that I had a chance to offer back and express my gratefulness and thankfulness in saying Grace on our second night. Our stay was part of what was a pilgrimage and the Hostess cultivated a pilgrim experience that appeared tailored for each pilgrim as she mindfully consciously seemed to focus directly on each person and consider their “need” in that moment. It was truly remarkable to see such a gift in service and deeply moving to see the array of response amongst my fellow pilgrims. My food experience left me deeply satisfied and sustained and where some pilgrims were scratching their heads, I had a little loaves and fishes experience - a little went an unnaturally long way. The food our Hostess provided powered me into health as I had arrived quite ill and quite without knowing how I was going to manage to walk my next day and on leaving I was deeply changed, nourished and strengthened and my walking got stronger and more energised everyday there after.

Peace Be Still offered us a comfortable group setting and we appeared to fill it out with 24 people. There is a stunning “Great Hall” style communal gathering and relaxing area with massive double stone fireplace, dining set-up with potbelly ever ready kettle for cup pad and an entry out to a large and expansive verandah to west facing Chittering Valley views (see photos - I oat time here, it was quite mesmerising) and a massive rear east patio area. It worked well for our small group of 24. The accomodations are in an a well maintained 80’s to 90’s comfortable country styling. I believe there is one bedroom and bathroom facilities that may accomodate one or two people requiring mobility devices in the main house on the communal entry level. Most other bedrooms in the main house are over spilt levels (two sets of rising steps) as the house fits the rise of the land.

This is a truly special place. There is deep nourishment and activity for the body, mind, soul and spirit. The Hostess lives and offers what I would call a harmonious eco and spiritual consciousness and practice that integrates well, with Peace Be Still being a genuine working farm and property, yet conserves nature and resources, operates around seasonal provision, manages minimal waste and offers sanctuary for fauna, flora and people.

We chose the Out & Back Trail for one of our weekly bushwalking activities. The trail is marked in a few strategic locations, but inadequate for a fuss free experience. We missed the start of the trail (Tip: Take the path left of the labyrinth, and the markers are clear until at the disused hut beside the rain water tank. Continue walking straight on the 4WD track which acts as firebreak and possibly the eastern boundary of the private property, making a counterclockwise loop returning too the 4WD track at the hut.) In all, we walked more than 8km over four hours as parts were quite rocky and steep.
Much of the trail is a 4WD track, but the views over the valley were amazing, and we saw several emus and an iguana. The grass trees were a sight to watch, and allowed great photography.
The hostess, Wendy, was helpful over the phone as I had sought information about opening times (8am).

We were looking for a bushwalking trail and Googled this place. We didn’t encounter any staff, but the website welcomes hikers, so we parked on site and started walking. There are a number of trails, moderately easy to follow, but not always clear so take pictures of the maps before setting off.

The views are some of the best you’ll find in Chittering. The trails are well cleared and wide, with many wildflowers and native flora to see. We also saw emus and encountered plants of kangaroos.

Highly recommended as a place to have a bushwalk.
